Manchester based designer Fatz Kassim, founder and former Creative Director of ZuZu Couture and Project Catwalk star, launched her exclusive bespoke jewellery collection at London Fashion Week on 17 September with a show at the Opal Lounge, London. So desirable are her exclusive religious themed pieces that she’s causing a stampede among the nation’s fashion disciples.
‘Save me’ is the name of the debut collection and incorporates a range of bespoke leather necklets, cuffs and bags lined with hand printed organic cotton.
The collection of necklets, cuffs and bags are all heavily embellished with a range of religious icon charms, gems, vintage treasures, reclaimed rhinestones and watch components. Each and every piece is individually crafted and nurtured to create a simply unique collection of jewellery.
Says Fatz “I designed my own necklace with some beautiful brooches and some vintage pieces I picked up on my travels and wherever I went women were stopping me and asking where I got it and if I’d make one for them. I was knocked-out by the response, so I decided to design and create my own collection.
I source vintage items, medals and charms from around the world so each piece has a history all of its own. We all have old rings and brooches passed down from loved ones which we probably never wear because they don’t look quite right. I can incorporate those into a necklace so that treasured keepsake can be worn close to the heart. It’s a beautiful tribute and a constant reminder of the person we loved but lost.”
